The People's Bible at Greenbelt

More than 900 people added their verses to the The People’s Bible over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The handwritten digital Bible spent four days at the Greenbelt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse, from Friday 26 to Monday 29 August.

At one stage there were queues out of the doors of the venue as people flocked to add two verses using a digital pen.

Among those written were ‘Jesus wept’ (John 11; 35); the shortest verse in the New Testament and Esther 8; 9 and the longest verse in the Bible with 78 words.

In all 990 people wrote 1,980 verses at Greenbelt, a major contribution to the online Bible which is being compiled to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.
